Sonowal reviews status of capital expenditure of various departments

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed capital expenditure programme and status of implementation of various programmes with regard to capital expenditure with the senior officers of all key departments at a meeting held at Brahmaputra State Guest House here on Saturday.

He directed the Secretaries of all the departments to be proactive to push the projects towards their logical conclusion so that people at large can reap the dividends of the government programmes. Taking review of the status of capital expenditure of different programmes, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Special initiative is required to raise the position of capital expenditure as scrupulously completing the budgeted capital expenditure holds key to boost the implementation of various government projects”.

Senior officials from different departments apprised Chief Minister Sonowal that their capital expenditure programme for the current year are completely on track for achieving the capital expenditure target in the current financial year. Sonowal assured that the government would make available adequate resources but no slackness under any circumstances would be acceptable. He also directed the Chief Secretary Alok Kumar and Additional Chief Secretaries to review capital expenditure programme frequently to keep the government programmes on track and to ensure their timely implementation.

Referring to the ensuing Panchayat Polls in the state and the prevailing code of conduct, Chief Minister Sonowal asked the secretaries to expeditiously implement the ongoing projects so that the government’s core agenda of people’s welfare does not come to a standstill.

He took the review of the capital expenditure of the Panchayat and Rural Development, Education, Tourism, Cultural Affairs Department, Smart City Project, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen and Urban, Forest etc. Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor  Shantanu Bharali, Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Bora Commissioner and Secretaries of different departments were present at the meeting.
