Eight hurt in leopard attack

Guwahati: Eight tea garden labourers have been injured in an attack by a leopard which strayed into the tea estate at Numaligarh in Assam’s Golaghat district on Wednesday. A leopard strayed into Radhabari Tea Garden in the morning and as the labourers panicked, the animal attacked them and injured eight others, official sources said. The garden workers rushed with sharp weapons and sticks to capture the leopard but it managed to escape into the nearby jungles. Forest deQpartment employees have rushed to the garden and have launched a massive hunt to capture the leopard but it could not be traced. The injured have been admitted to the garden hospital, sources added. (PTI)

FNR appeal

Kohima: The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has urged the leadership of GPRN/NSCN (Khehoi) and NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) for an immediate cessation of all armed confrontation. In a statement here on Wednesday the FNR asked the two confronting groups to instruct its cadres to cease all armed confrontation with immediate effect. ‘We further requested the concerned authorities to issue a standing order for all its ranks and file to follow this assertion dutifully.’ (UNI)

IED found
