Bazeley laments environmental degradation

SHILLONG:Together with the rest of the world, World Brotherhood Day was celebrated in the city to commemorate the joint birth anniversary of the founder of the Scouts and Guides Movement Lord Baden Powell of Gilwel and his wife.

Observing the World Brotherhood Day with a theme selected by the world bureau “We can save our planet”, the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides (MBSG) organized a special programme in its premises here on Wednesday which was attended by members of the MBSG from different schools besides others.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest former MBSG President PJ Bazeley lamented the environmental degradation stating that people nowadays don’t pay much attention to mother earth, increase in population and pollution has further deteriorated our environment.

Urging upon the young scouts and guides members from different schools to start taking care of the surroundings around us, Bazeley said the world will be brighter and greener only if young people understands the importance of a healthy environment.

The former MBSG President also recalled the contributions of the stalwarts of the movement to the well being of movement.
