SHILONG: Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on Tuesday informed the House that all pending projects under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) were gathering moss since decades in the state.

Replying to a short duration discussion raised by Mawsynram MLA, HM Shangpliang, Conrad Sangma said that the Government of India had agreed to move on these projects.

Sangma earlier informed that the   guidelines for North Eastern Council (NEC) were changed and many states did not received funds for the year  2017-18

However, all the Northeastern states strongly pressurized the NEC on the matter as a result of which it was decided that State Level Empowered Committee would make decision on the matter.

“These projects will continue and the Chief Secretary will clear these files within a week’s time,” the Chief Minister said.

Earlier, Shangpliang said that the many schemes sanctioned by NEC, DoNER and NLCPR were not taking off and many remained  stalled

He also alleged that as many as  24  projects amounting to Rs  17764  lakh were shelved by the NEC.

He also said that there were many schemes where Central Government despite sanctioning projects released only Rs 10  lakhs to ensure that projects do not die.
