SHILONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday informed the House that the NEC projects for 2017-18 and those under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) which are pending for decades will be taken up.
Replying to a short duration discussion raised by Mawsynram MLA HM Shangpliang, Conrad Sangma said the Government of India has agreed to move on these projects.
Sangma earlier informed that the guidelines for North Eastern Council (NEC) were changed and many states did not receive funds for 2017-18.
However, all the northeastern states put pressure on the NEC on the matter as a result of which it was decided that State Level Empowered Committee will take a decision.
“These projects will continue and the chief secretary will clear these files within a week’s time,” the chief minister said.
Earlier, Shangpliang said many schemes sanctioned by NEC, DoNER and NLCPR are not taking off and many are stalled. He also alleged that as many as 24 projects amounting to Rs 1,7764 lakh were shelved by the NEC.
The MLA also said there were many schemes where the Central Government despite sanctioning projects released only Rs 10 lakh to ensure that the projects do not die.
