Sensitisation event for traditional healers to be held

Shillong: The Bio-Resources Development Centre (BRDC), a Government of Meghalaya Institution under Science & Technology Cell, Planning Department in collaboration with the Quality Council of India, Government of India is conducting a one-day sensitisation programme on Voluntary Certification Scheme for Traditional Community Healthcare Providers on December 6 at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong.
About 78 traditional healers will be attending the programme. Prof. Debjani Roy, Adviser, Quality Council of India and Hariramurthi, Foundation for Revitalisation of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT), Bangalore will be the resource persons for the programme. Prof. D. Khathing, Vice Chancellor, North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur will also be present at the programme.
Meanwhile, the Bio-Resources Development Centre conducted a block-level awareness-cum-traditional healing health camp in 39 Blocks and training to the traditional healers in collaboration with NEIAH, Shillong for 11 Districts across the State.
As part of improving the traditional healing practices, a one-day programme will be conducted at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong on December 7 for distribution of tools and kits to the capacitated traditional healers.
About 585 traditional healers as beneficiaries will attend the programme. Health & Family Welfare Minister, A. L. Hek will be the chief guest.
