Jorhat: Senior advocate, veteran journalist and social activist Manik Chandra Khound died at a private hospital in Assam’s Jorhat district on Friday, family sources said.

He was 86 years and is survived by a son and a daughter.

Khound earlier practised in Calcutta High Court but shifted in the year 1961 to Jorhat Session court.

He was also a former General Secretary of Bharatiya Chah Parishad and Editor of Weekly Janambhumi for 30 years.

He was also a Lecturer of Jorhat Law College for past 40 years and was the Secretary and President for three terms of Jorhat Rotary Club. (PTI)
