SHILLONG: Army Public School on Saturday celebrated its Annual Day with great enthusiasm at the Rhino Auditorium here.

GOC 101 Area, Lt. General V.K Narula, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The celebration started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest and the Patron of APS Shillong and the Guest of Honour, Mrs. Nirmal Narula, President, Regional AWWA, 101 Area.

An enchanting cultural evening was presented by the students besides charming classical performance, tiny toddlers’ rendition of A.R.Rahman’s song Jai Ho, a blood warming martial beats of bhangra, a dance drama of Rabindranath Tagore added an aura of culture and customs of the vast and diverse country.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt. General V.K Narula, mentioned that construction for a new school building is likely to commence from June 2012 with adequate classrooms , auditorium and other infrastructure facilities required to house around 2200 students .

He also highlighted the importance of co-scholastic activities in learning and also in the overall development of the personality of the students.The students who did well and those who were awarded Merit Certificates by the CBSE were honoured on the occasion.
