Two injured in brawl

SHILLONG: One, Gilbert Malngiang, a resident of Sunny Hills, Shillong was badly injured in a mob fury at Lad Syiap at around 5pm here on Saturday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Vivek Syiem, informed that a group of six friends were involved in a brawl which left Malngiang with injuries on the head.

Sources, however, informed that one more person — Batskhem Wanswett, a resident of Lumsyiap — was also injured on the head after he was attacked with sharp weapons.

The injured persons were later shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for further treatment, while the other trouble mongers were put behind bars.

17-yr-old kills self

JOWAI: A class IX student of a local school here allegedly committed suicide at his own residence on Saturday. Sources in the know said the youth identified as one Salanmi Tariang (17) hanged himself because the mother of his girlfriend was against their relationship.

Youth drowns

One Lur Suna (18) of Mukhla village drowned in a fishery pond in the village on Saturday at around 4 pm while he was bathing there.
