JOWAI: The Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) on Thursday apprehended 15 suspected Bangladeshi nationals in Jowai.

All the apprehended persons were on their way from Dhubri (Assam) to Ladrymbai in a truck.

They came in search of works in coal mines of Khliehriat sub-Division.

According to JYF president, PP Majaw, the truck in which they were travelling broke down at Riat-turiem near Jowai. The JYF handed over all the apprehended persons to Jowai Police after they failed to produce any valid document.

The JYF said, “We will continue to check influx in the area and an appropriate action will be taken against such persons who come to Jaintia Hills without any valid document to prove their nationality”.
