SHILLONG: To help ease the procedure for filing of grievances against the Government departments, the State Government on Thursday launched the online Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring system.

The online system would enable people to file their grievances against various Government departments just at the click of few buttons.

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, after launching the online system, stated that with this system the deficiencies in the various Government departments can be identified and accordingly corrected.

“We have a major challenge at hand as now the people would expect the Government to respond to their grievances,” Dr Sangma said while addressing the gathering.

The Chief Minister was of the opinion that there should be a continuous engagement with the people and other stakeholders to make the system of governance more efficient.

The online system would be launched in the Secretariat and Directorates in the first phase and would be gradually expanded to cover even the block levels in next phase.

A detailed presentation was also made on the functioning of the online public grievance redressal and monitoring system.

PK Jha, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievance said that this step may go a long way for quick and speedy disposal of public grievances.

Jha also added that the new online system could be linked to even mobile phones since many villages do not have internet connectivity.

It may be mentioned that two round of training has already been held for nodal officers to make the system effective.

Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, who also spoke on the occasion, said that the efficiency of the system would largely depend on how the nodal officers and the concerned departments respond to the grievances of the people.
