Awareness campaign
The Block Development Officer and Programme Officer, Mawphlang Community and Rural Block has informed that the Awareness Campaign on Social Audit under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for all the 66 AECs of the 181 out of 182 VECs of the Block will be held on March 12 at St Paul’s Higher Secondary School Hall, Marbisu from 10am onwards.
Mock Drill
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that the district administration will carry out rehearsal for Mock Drill on Earthquake and Fire in Civil Hospital on March 5 and the actual Mock Drill on March 10 from 9am onwards in both the days.
Aqua mission
The Director of Fisheries cum Chief Executive Officer, FFDA Meghalaya will launch the Meghalaya State Aqua Culture Mission to be followed by the Fish Festival on March 5 at 2nd Polo Ground at 10am. The function will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma.
Youth convention
On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Ramkrishna Mission is organizing a youth convention on March 3 from 9am to 2pm at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road. Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh,will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Death condoled
The Senior Citizen Society for Preservation of Environment (SCSPE), Rilbong condoled the demise of Mohit Kanti Shome, who was the Vice President of SCSPE, on February 24. Mr Shome, retired Additional Director of Agriculture, Meghalaya was held in high esteem by his colleague, friends and department because of unimpeachable integrity, scrupulous attitude for what he felt proper and correct.
