SHILLONG: District Council Affairs Minister James Sangma told the members of STIEH on Thursday that the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (First Amendment), Bill, 2018, is being scrutinised by the Law Department.
The Saiñdur Tipkur-Tipkha Ieng Ehrngiew Hynñiewtrep (STIEH) members met the minister to seek information on the bill.
Sangma informed the members of STIEH that it will take time to study the characteristics and limitations of the bill so as to ensure that it would not be in conflict with the Constitution of India.
Meanwhile, the association has urged the minister to forward the bill to the governor at the earliest.
