Guwahati: A Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) and a forest ranger were kidnapped by suspected tribal militants from Singhasan hills in central Assam’s Karbi Angong district on Saturday while they were returning after research work along with a delegation comprising wildlife experts from Japan. Police said the delegation had gone to the Singhasan hills on February 27 for research on biodversity project and were on their way back when the militants ambushed them. A gang of about 10-12 armed suspected Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants stopped the convoy and forced the people out of the cars, while firing several rounds in the air. The militants held back CCF Abhijit Rabha and ranger Ranjan Barua, letting the others free.
