SHILLONG: As the Congress party is gearing up for district council election in Meghalaya, Victor Keishing, AICC Secretary I/c Meghalaya  on Friday addressed the meeting of Congress MDC Candidates here.

Victor Keishing  appealed the candidates to work hard and to serve the best interest of the people  and he asked them to explain convincingly the danger and impact of the anti-people policy and programmes of the BJP government, an ally of the MDA Government in Meghalaya.

He said the farmer’s plight had been neglected by the MDA Government and asked to take up the issue at the proper forum as the farmers were being exploited by the middlemen.

He called upon the partymen  to respect the traditional institutions and to be cautious of any move by the Centre to weaken its structure.

On the other hand, Vincent H Pala spelled out the danger of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and its impact on the indigenous people.

He reminded that the Village Administrative Bill (VAB) could not be implemented because of the BJP Government’s failure.

Pala recalled the achievements of the Congress Party and asked them to highlight it before the people. Senior leaders of the party were also present on the occasion
