SHILLONG: Students appearing in their HSSLS and SSLC examinations have been hard hit by the MeECL imposed load shedding.

A number of students have expressed their anguish at the load shedding during such a crucial time, even as they decried the MeECL for not showing concern for the future of thousands of students who are having sleepless nights due to the exams.

The HSSLC examinations began on Friday last while the SSLC examination would commence from Monday.

Many students complained that the load shedding was effective from 1 am till 5 am, which means that they could neither study late in the night or start early in the morning.

Another student commented that the least the MeECL could have done was reduce the load shedding hours for the better sake of the students.

Another student wondered why the load shedding could not have been effected during the day time so that students were not disturbed.

When contacted, Power Minister AT Mondal stated that the Government was trying its best to improve the power scenario in the State in view of the examinations.

Reacting to a query on whether the load shedding timings would be reduced at least for the duration of the examination, Mondal said that it would depend on the availability of power in the grid.

“We are trying our level best,” the Power Minister added.
