SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC is looking forward to send its young midfielders Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Lalramluaha for training with the Denmark based club FCV Vikings to further improved and enhance their skills.

This exposure trip for the young players from Shillong Lajong materialised after the club recently signed an agreement with the Danish football club in Kolkata following an initiative facilitated by Anglian Holdings, an NRI owned MNC from Dubai, to bring the two clubs together to work for the development and promotion of football in India. “We are planning to send the young midfielders within three months to train with the Denmark based club on basis of their recent performances,” SLFC general secretary M Larsing Sawian said.

The expense for the entire trip would be borne by the Club and Sawian is optimistic that the ‘tryst with Denmark’ will further enhance the performance levels of the two star players.

“We would send more players (to Denmark) in future,” he said.

Meanwhile, the SLFC general secretary also informed that the team is planning to invite FCV Vikings to play in a brief tournament in the city sometime in July.

“We are also planning to invite two other I-League clubs along to play in the tournament,” Sawian said.

He also informed that the club is looking forward to set up a “state-of-the-art international level residential academy for budding and talented footballers of the State and the region” in association with FCV Vikings and Anglian Holdings.

Inspired by the Tata Football Academy, which according to Ming has produced some of the finest footballers in the country, the proposed academy will have all facilities and adequate technical strength including more coaches, trainers, physios etc. so that all aspects of training are covered which would indeed make it a one of a kind establishment.
