SHILLONG: In a laudable achievement, 14 young footballers from the state have been selected for the trial camp for National Under-14 team to be held at Kalyani, West Bengal from March 16-April 8.

Confirming this on Sunday, Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) Youth Development Cell convener Sunesh Syiem said that the association received a letter from the AIFF informing about the selection of the 14 footballers for the trials.

Replying to a query, Syiem attributed this success to the youth development programme of the MFA.

“The MFA has given special emphasis towards development of football among the young footballers of the State in the past few years,” he added.

It may be mentioned that the MFA had organised an under-14 Inter-District football tournament in December last subsequent to this trial camp for the national side.

Selected players: Henry Kharwan, Kamwat-damonmi Pamthied, Carmelo Rymbai, Tre-watker Pakyntien, Chan-mitre Thma, Khlain-bor Khongsit, Kiran Lyngdoh, Costerland Lyng-doh, Reson Malngiang, Marchterfield Marbaniang, Superfine Suting, Kyntiew Shaphrang Kharlukhi, Obadaia Bareh and Frolicson Dkhar.
