SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma said Meghalaya Government was looking forward to share ideas and best practices with a bigger state.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, Conrad Sangma said, “I strongly feel that there is lot of other states with whom we can combine. We are starting and taking this initiative to tie up with one of the bigger states in the country.”
Under the proposed idea, Meghalaya is looking for partnership with one of the bigger states like Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra as these states have their own resources and advantages whereas Meghalaya has good practices.
“There is a platform which could be created where these things could be shared with each other,” Sangma maintained
Giving an example, he said that if Meghalaya decided to have a sister state relationship with Telangana, Meghalaya could look at the entire IT industry there.
“They can actually look at Meghalaya as the second hub and the government can actually say if you can’t do it here do it in our sister state Meghalaya. Entire conferences of IT could be held here and entire human resources of the BPO requirements could be taken from Meghalaya,” he said
According to Sangma, Meghalaya’s social audit system has been appreciated by many states which want to follow the state’s model of social auditing.
The Chief Minister maintained that under the idea and concept of having a sister state, a mechanism would be found out to find ways for exchange of the best practices and support.
