The quality of road construction undertaken by the

PWD in Shillong city seems to be of the worst pos

sible quality as the roads don’t even last for six months after they are repaired.

A classic example of this are the open potholes at Lad Rilbong junction which have once again opened up less than six months after they were last repaired.

The potholes and a small stretch of the Rilbong junction were repaired in October last just few days prior to the visit of Vice President of India, Md Hamid Ansari, to Shillong.

“Neither the PWD nor the contractors are least bothered about the potholes. They just repair the road in a hurried manner just to please any VIP who visits the city at that time,” a vehicle owner lamented. (By Aafaque Hussain)
