First day of SSLC exam peaceful
SHILLONG: The Federation of All Meghalaya Adhoc Secondary Teachers’ Association (FAMASTA) has decided to temporarily suspend its proposed non-cooperation pertaining to evaluation and tabulation of SSLC answer scripts.
The FAMASTA took this decision following a meeting with Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Monday.
It may be recalled that the Association has been demanding the State government to adopt a pay structure for the adhoc school teachers similar to that of deficit school teachers.
Bina Kharumnuid, president of the FAMASTA, told reporters after the meeting that the chief minister assured the association that he would look into the matter seriously.
There are around 386 adhoc secondary school teachers all over the State.
SSLC exam: Meanwhile, the first day of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, which got underway on Monday, went off peacefully with no report of any student reaching examination hall late.
Confirming this, EP Kharbhih, Executive Chairman, Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) said “There has been a drastic improvement in the conduct of examination this year. The students wrote their examination fairly and peacefully.”
No student was expelled on Monday for adopting unfair means in the examination, he said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Herbert Lyngdoh, meanwhile, said traffic was under control throughout the city on Monday.
