SHILLONG: The State Government has landed in a fresh trouble with the CBI indicating in its report that there were manipulations in the appointment of assistant teachers in Government lower primary schools in the State.
The CBI, which submitted its report before Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court on Monday, has reportedly unearthed several cases of ‘manipulations’ in the appointment of assistant teachers.
Senior legal counsel VK Jindal informed that the CBI submitted the report after scrutinising several records, including examination of witnesses.
Jindal further said that more than 100-page report would be finally opened by Justice T Vaiphei on March 14.
There were manipulations at the directorate level, he said adding that a clear picture would emerge once it is opened on March 14.
It may be mentioned that the Shillong Bench of Gauhati High Court, had earlier directed the CBI to inquire into the alleged anomalies in the appointment of assistant teachers.
The High Court issued this directive while adjudicating on a case of nine writ petitions filed by aggrieved applicants from various pockets of the state after information obtained through the RTI Act, 2005 brought to light various discrepancies and manipulation in the appointment of assistant teachers in 2009-2010.
