Arunachal CM to attend India festival in Canada

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has been invited as the guest of honour for the inaugural edition of the ‘Year of India’ in Canada 2011, which will be celebrated at Ottawa in Canada on March 13.

The Indian High Commission is celebrating the ‘Year of India’ in Canada 2011 and as a part of the year-long celebration a multi-product brand expo is being organised on the occasion, official sources said today.

This year, the North-East India has been selected as the focus area and the Ministry of DoNER is partnering with various North-eastern states to promote the investment potential in the region.

The Expo, apart from highlighting the investment opportunities in the seven states, will also see participation from various government agencies, PSUs and private companies in fields as diverse as tea, jute, rubber, plastics, metals, tourism, energy, and others.

The Ministry of External Affairs has approved a four member Arunachal Pradesh delegation, consisting of the Planning Minister, Tourism Minister, Secretary Planning and Director PPP to accompany the chief minsiter to the prestigious event.

The delegation will also hold meetings with the trade and business chamber of Canada at Toronto. (UNI)
