Meghalaya receives record Rs 900 crore funds under PMGSY

SHILLONG: After getting a record sanction of Rs 321.88 crores under the Central Road fund (CRF),  Meghalaya Government  has now received another record sanction of more than  900  crores under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)

Informing this here on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister, in charge of PWD, Prestone Tynsong said that the funds would be utilised for upgradation of the existing state roads

In the original PMGSY, Meghalaya Government was getting  funds for connecting the villages and now with this sanction Government is also going to repair and upgrade the existing roads as well

“By the next financial year or may be in two years, we will be able to complete all the projects,” he said  while adding that the state will see the change with the change in rural roads

Under the PMGSY, Meghalaya Government would cover around 1000  kilometers of roads in the city besides upgrading bridges and roads in the state including the state capital

Earlier, the state used to get around Rs 80-90  crores per year under the CRF and under the sanctioned amount, around Rs  50 crores will be used for constructing roads and bridges in the Shillong city itself.
