Accident
On Wednesday, one truck AS-12C-3732 driven by Poibiang Suting capsized at Amlarem, Dawki Road in West Jaintia Hills. The driver died on the spot.

Assault
On Wednesday around 2:00am, Anando Botdal (28) and his brother Kalam Botdal lodged a complaint stating that while they were proceeding from West Bengal to Mankachar, Assam in a Mahindra Pick-up (WB-69-8357) loaded with chickens, they were fired upon by unknown miscreants at Gaptoli-Bamondanga area under Phulbari PS in West Garo Hills. Kalam Botdal sustained bullet injuries to his leg and was taken to PHC Phulbari for treatment.

Drug bust
Acting on inputs, Police arrested one Sima Gangte (45) on Wednesday at Thembasuk, Block-E in Madanrting and recovered a soap case containing yellow and white powder which is suspected to be heroin weighing around 9.65 grams from his possession.

NGT violation
Executive Magistrate FE Langstang lodged a complaint stating that on January 23 around 8:45am, while conducting a mining raid along with police at Deinchynrum and Byndihati Areas in East Jaintia Hills, one Rakesh Rai (24) was apprehended while he was illegally extracting coal from a quarry.
On Wednesday around 7:05pm, Police detected and seized one coal laden truck (ML-05J-3051) at Lad Umsaw, Umiam in Ri Bhoi.

Suo motu case
A suo motu case was registered at Ampati PS in South West Garo Hills stating that a bandh was called by NESO from 5 am to 4 pm on January 18 in protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and that during the bandh, all shops and business establishments remained closed in and around Ampati. No vehicles plied in the entire district and most of the government offices had poor attendance.

Theft
Paritosh Saha lodged a complaint stating that on Wednesday around 7:30 pm, three unidentified youths assisted by a girl accosted the complainant at City Hut Dhaba in Polo Tower Road and snatched his cell phone along with Rs 1500 cash.
Sasitri Kar lodged complaint stating that on Wednesday around 8:10pm, an unidentified miscreant snatched her cell phone near Swami Vivekananda road in the city.
Fr. Anthony Xavier, Parish Priest, Sacred Heart Church Dalu in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint stating that on January 21 around 11:00pm, unknown miscreants broke into the church office and stole Rs 5 lakh cash.
Starly Sna lodged a complaint stating that on January 19, unknown miscreant(s) stole the battery from his truck (NL-01G-8109) parked at Dongmihsngi, Ummulong.
On Wednesday, unknown miscreant(s) broke into Meghalaya Rural Bank, Zero Point Branch in Ri Bhoi and ransacked the premises.

Threat
Banrilin Pathaw lodged a complaint stating that her ex-husband Banteilang Marbaniang borrowed Rs 2,10,000 from her but failed to repay the amount. However, when she approached him regarding the matter on October 13, 2018, he and his friends attempted to kidnap her and threatened her with dire consequences.
