SHILLONG: Former KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem and Mawshynrut MLA Gigur Myrthong have been named as NPP candidates for the council polls.
The election committee of the NPP declared the third list of candidates on Thursday that comprised the two names.
Syiem will contest from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah and will face his former People’s Democratic Front (PDF) colleague James Ban Basaiawmoit.
The NPP has so far released the names of 27 candidates.
Syiem is currently the MDC of Mawsynram when he contested on a Congress ticket and floated the PDF after the Congress suspended him for alleged anti-party activities.
However, he quit the PDF alleging he was sidelined by the PDF members and joined the NPP recently.
