Run for Democracy held in Tura as part of National Voters’ Day

TURA:  As part of the National Voters Day celebration, ‘Run for Democracy’ was organized today morning by the District Election Office, West Garo Hills Tura with Chandmary Playground as the starting point and Dikki Bandi Stadium as the finishing point.

In his brief address during the prize distribution ceremony, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Ram Singh congratulated all the participants of the Democracy Run and encouraged especially the youth to put into practice morning jogging and running which would also help them to keep fit and healthy too. Moreover, he urged everyone to minimize the use of vehicles mostly for short distances since the numbers of vehicles are increasing day by day and people’s effort only would solve the problem of congestion to a great extent.

In the Run, the winner of the SBI Marathon champion held at Guwahati recently Batsrang A Sangma emerged the winner, while Witnar A Sangma and Bethnar A Sangma all three brothers who are active and enthusiast runners from Tebronggre area bagged the second and third position respectively in the Men category.

While in the women category, Smile Orchid M Momin from Niksenggittim, Lucy Ch Marak from Wadanang and Timechi D Momin from Chutipara bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.
