SHILLONG: As Meghalaya gears up for Republic day celebration, preparation is going on in the full swing in state Capital as well as in district headquarters.
Inspection by top police officials, bomb and dog squad are being carried on at the venue of celebrations.
Meghalaya Governor Tatgatha Roy will unfurl the tri-colour and take salute at Polo Grounds where the main function of the state will be held.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said that security had been beefed up and patrolling intensified while adding that elaborate security arrangement have been put in place
Asked if the police are taking special security measures considering the current resentment against the CAB, Marak said that elaborate security arrangement was in place to keep any mischief mongers away.
He also expressed confidence that no such disturbance will occur
