MLA protests against water crisis in Tura

 TURA: The All Students Welfare Association (ASWA), Tura, has expressed its solidarity with former MLA, Clifford R Marak’s day-long hunger strike in front of the PHE Departments’ Office, protesting against the ongoing water crisis in Tura. The Association submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Tuesday demanding an immediate solution to the problem.

The Association also presented various grievances of the student community of Garo Hills to Dr Sangma. The ASWA’s demands include setting up of NEHU Administrative Cell for Degree Section in Garo Hills, provincialization of Tura Law College and Medipathar College, introducing Science and Commerce streams in Williamnagar, Baghmara and Mendipathar colleges, enhancement of Grant in aid to Adhoc Schools and colleges and funding of Educational tours to provide much needed exposure to the students of the region among other demands.
