KSU for regular power supply to Shella residents

SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shella Unit has urged the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) to provide regular power supply to the residents of Shella.
In a statement issued here, president of KSU Shella unit, Pynkmenlang Sanmiet said power supply of MeECL over the past few days affected the people as the power shut-down was without any specific timing.
Stating that the power cut would be from noon time till 10 at night, he said students preparing for their various examinations are badly affected. Even various Church services and programmes held in Shella also faced power woes.
Adding to the erratic power supply is the electricity Bills, Sanmiet claimed that electricity bills are around thousand of rupees even in vacant houses.
He added the high electricity bills has affected the poor and has urged the MeECL to look into the matter.
