NONGSTOIN: Many leaders and supporters of the Congress and regional parties from Rambrai-Jyrngam and Nongstoin joined the NPP on Tuesday.
The NPP welcomed JTS Thongni, who was the working president of the District Congress Committee and a ticket aspirant for the council polls, to the party at a function held at Thongni’s residence in Siejlieh.
Thanking the NPP for welcoming him and his supporters to the party, Thongni said the Congress failed to allot ticket for council polls to a local and the constituents “will not support an outsider”.
The leader said he was disappointed that even after the party agreed to give him ticket, it made a U-turn and manipulated the procedure of the party.
The Congress has named Bajop Pyngrope, who is from Lumparing, as its candidate from Rambrai-Jyrngam.
World Champion Paliar, the president of the NPP Rambrai-Jyrngam block and a candidate for the council election, said, “I am only a local youth and have no money power to fight this election but I know what the people of the area want because there is no development in the area in terms of road, health facilities and education.”
Paliar urged voters to give their mandate to the NPP, “the party that leads the government and understands the need of the people in the state”.
Macmillan Byrsat, the NPP MLA from Nongstoin, welcomed the new members saying the NPP accepts everyone with no promise of personal benefits. Byrsat lauded the NPP Rambrai Block unit for its untiring efforts to make the party stronger. He pointed out that as MLA of Nongstoin, he never neglected Rambrai where two road projects from Rambrai to Mawdoh and at Kyrdum were sanctioned and it will be implemented soon.
The MLA from Rambrai-Jyrngam is Congress’s Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang.
“The Rambrai-Jyrngam people need to elect an MDC from the NPP if they want to develop their constituency and follow up the promise made by the state government earlier for the creation of newly C&RD block,” Byrsat said.
He added that Rambrai-Jyrngam will be at a new level in terms of development if people choose World Champion. He also said the state government has sanctioned land compensation in the two-laning project from Rambrai to Kyrshai and the process will be made by the deputy commissioner.
Byrsat also said because Rambrai has no representative in the government and so it has lost seven road projects.
