‘ILP is only solution to CAB’

SHILLONG: Former Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) leader, Paul Lyngdoh said Inner Line Permit (ILP) is the only antidote to the poison of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
The former minister also appealed for public support for the rally held by Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisations (CoHSO) on Thursday.
Lyngdoh who led the union as president and stepped aside to venture in politics was not present at the march cum public meeting called by the KSU on Wednesday.
The CoHSO will hold the public meeting starting with a rally from Jingthang Briew, Jaiaw till Students’ Field on Thursday.
NE should be exempted
The state secretary of the BJP Youth Wing, Wallambok Khongwir said the Centre should exempt North East from the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 but to come up with a legislation to protect the tribals in the North East.
In a statement issued here, he said, “We also have to think about tribals living in Bangladesh. They may also want to come back to the state.”
He called upon NGOs and religious leaders to convey to the state and central government to legislate laws that will protect the North Eastern region.
