SHILLONG: The Pradhan Mantri Arogya Yojana in convergence with the Megha Health Insurance Scheme Phase IV will become effective from Friday and even those who have not yet enrolled with the scheme would be able to avail the benefits if they are admitted in the hospital from the day.
Addressing a press conference, Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek, said that the total verified beneficiaries stood at 9129 and the total approved beneficiaries for the scheme at 9071. Right now, as many as 141 government hospitals in the state have been empanelled with the scheme and the government is in the process of signing MOUs with private hospitals to empanel them in the state as well as outside. Negotiations are also on with Apollo Hospital.
It was informed that the registration drive would continue till May 31 in all the eleven districts of the state
The minister said that each and every citizen of Meghalaya will be enrolled with the scheme which has around 2300 packages under it. The scheme would also cover investigation and diagnosis.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 70 crore for the scheme which includes Rs 15 crore as dues to be cleared with various hospitals for the last version.
The state government is paying a premium of Rs 1630 to the insurance company for each house for the scheme.
People while registering themselves with the scheme would have to produce their identify cards like EPIC, driving license etc and this time, the government would distribute individual cards to them.
The government intends to provide quality health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to all families of the state, barring state and central government employees.
