TURA: Fresh from this week’s dawn to dusk strike call against the Citizenship Amendment Bill that paralysed the Garo Hills, the All Garo Hills Joint Action Committee (AGHJAC) has warned that more protests are in the offing unless the government withdraws the cohntroversal bill.

“The 11 hour NCM has helped people become aware of the problems of CAB. The awareness has spread to every corner of Garo Hills. We were encouraged not to stop but to continue against this Bill, which will be dangerous to the people of the NE region,” stated AGHJAC convener, Balkarin Marak in a communiqué.

The forum cautioned that it has decided to take stronger steps of protest against CAB until the Bill is completely withdrawn. “We would like to appeal to the people of Garo Hills to campaign against CAB in every weekly market and support us in opposing the Bill,” stated the AGHJAC leaders.

The NGO also extended support and appreciation to the two day ‘Rally’ in Shillong that was called by different NGOs of Meghalaya and the Guwahati Rally call by the AASU.
