Shylla quits politics, to head clan elders’ body

SHILLONG/MAWKYRWAT: KHADC chief executive member HS Shylla on Saturday announced that was quitting politics.
The announcement came after Shylla was named full-fledged chief of the Ka Synjuk Ki Rangbah Kur Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SRKBH), a newly formed conglomerate body of the tribal clan elders, in its first general council meeting held in the city.
The MDC from Nongkrem recently resigned from NPP in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The chief executive member said the January 31 Dorbah Bah held in Jaiaw was his last public speech as a politician as he has finally decided to quit politics for good.
He also clarified that he would not be the MP candidate of the Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisations.
When asked why he was quitting politics, Shylla said he would now focus on how to further strengthen the body of clan elders that aimed at taking up all issues concerning the indigenous people of the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region.

Meanwhile, the KHADC chief laid the foundation stone of the KHADC Mawkyrwat Branch office at Jakrem-Rangmaw junction in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills in the presence of HSPDP MDC from Langrin, Manstudy Nongrem and PDF MDC from Mawkyrwat, Hadrian Lyngdoh.
Speaking on the occasion, Shylla extended his gratitude to the land owner for donating the land for building the office.
