101 Area gets new GOC

SHILLONG: Lieutenant General DS Ahuja, AVSM, General Officer Commanding 101 Area has handed over the command of 101 area to Major General PK Saini, Chief of Staff, after relinquishing his post.

Ahuja had an illustrious tenure at 101 Area and was responsible for conducting various operational exercises, disaster management drills and supervising internal security operations during the unrest in Shillong. He also provided an impetus to enhance civil military cooperation in Shillong.

During a wreath laying ceremony at Rhino War Memorial on February 2, Ahuja honoured the Indian Army troops who sacrificed their lives during the war for liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. 101 Area holds the unique honour of being the first formation to enter Dhaka on December 16, 1971, during the Indo-Pakistan war.
