NIA arrests JeM terrorist for providing logistics
Srinagar/New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Monday arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist in connection with the attack on a CRPF camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Lethpora, according to an official statement. The accused, Fayaz Ahmad Magray, is an active OGW (over ground worker) of proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), it said. He is a key conspirator who provided logistical support such as providing shelter to the terrorists and conducting reconnaissance of the CRPF group centre in Lethpora before the terrorist attack, the NIA said in the statement. In 2001 also, he was detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) by Jammu and Kashmir Police and he remained under detention for 16 months, it said. ?Terrorist attack on CRPF group centre in Lethpora was carried out in the intervening night of December 30-31, 2017 by three terrorists of proscribed terrorist organisation JeM, the NIA said. During investigation by the NIA, the terrorists were identified as Fardeen Ahmad Khandey and Manzoor Baba, both resident of district Pulwama, and Abdul Shakoor, a resident of Rawalakot area of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, it said. Rajasthan to felicitate good Samaritans
Jaipur: The Rajasthan government will felicitate those who come forward to help injured persons in road accidents. “The government will encourage those doing good in the field of road safety, making efforts to create awareness among young students and public at large,” the minister said. “Those who come forward to help injured persons in road accidents will also be felicitated by the government,” he said while inaugurating the state-level road safety week at Jawahar circle here. He said that human errors remain the cause of accident in most of the cases but the situation can be changed by creating awareness about road safety and the number of deaths occurring in accidents can be brought down. Singh also invited suggestions from public on social media for enhancing transport system and for road safety measures. The minister also motivated people to use cycle. (Rajasthan) MoS for transport Ashok Chandna, District Collector Jagroop Singh Yadav, police commissioner Anand Srivastava were among those present at the function where a vintage car rally was also flagged off. Hazare loses 4.25 kg; Sena, MNS ask govt to save his life
Ralegan Siddhi: Social activist Anna Hazare has lost 4.25 kg in the last six days since his fast over appointment of anti-corruption watchdogs began, doctors said Monday. As concerns over Hazare’s health grew, the Shiv Sena and MNS sought the BJP-led government’s intervention to save the 81-year-old activist’s life. Hazare began his fast on January 30 at his native Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, demanding appointment of anti-corruption watchdogs at the Centre and in Maharashtra and resolution of farmers’ issues. “Anna now weighs 71.1 kg and has lost 4.25 kg weight since his fast began. His blood pressure is also increasing due to fasting,” Dr Dhananjay Pote, a doctor attending to him, told PTI Monday. Pote has been asked by the villagers to keep a tab on Hazare’s health and prepare a daily report. Several people, including government officials, have met Hazare in the last six days and requested him to end his fast. MNS chief Raj Thackeray and water conservationist Rajendra Singh met Hazare on Monday and extended their support to his agitation. (PTI)

Army officers briefs J&K guv on security situation
Jammu: General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Srinagar-based 15 corps Lt Gen A K Bhatt Monday called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik here and briefed him about the security situation in the valley, a Raj Bhavan spokesman said. Lt Gen Bhatt was accompanied by Lt Gen K J S Dhillon, the designated GOC 15 corps, he said. The spokesman said Malik bade farewell to Lt Gen Bhatt who will soon be joining as Military Secretary in the Army headquarters, Delhi. Malik appreciated the Army’s strong support to the security forces in carrying out counter-terrorism operations in the valley, he said. (PTI)
