Police seize contraband in city; one arrested

SHILLONG: A huge amount of contraband was recovered by police in the city recently which resulted in the arrest of an individual.
On February 1 around 7:20 pm, police apprehended Lalcha Khongsai (25) at Madanrting Block-F while he was on his way to deliver contraband to customers.
Two soap cases containing yellowish orange powder suspected to be heroin weighing 20.23 grams were seized from his possession.
On being led by Khongsai, police recovered three more soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing 47.39 grams from his residence in Happy Valley.
In another incident which occured on January 2 around 6:45 am, police recovered eleven plastic bags which had been abandoned at Paltan Bazar. The bags contained around 50 kgs of suspected marijuana.
