Nongpoh:The Khasi Students’ Union has demanded relaxation of norms for various posts lying vacant as per notification of November 20, 2018, and contract works at the North East Police Academy (NEPA) for youths of the state.
The Union members of Umiam Circle led by its president, Stevenson Kharkrang, and August Nongbri, finance secretary of the NKHD unit, on Wednesday met NEPA Director Kala Ramachandran to discuss the matter.
The NEPA Director promised the Union leaders to take up the matter with the concerned authority at New Delhi. It may be mentioned, the Union leaders had earlier urged the Director for relaxation of additional qualifications for various posts lying vacant at NEPA as per the notification since most of the youths here do not possess the requisite diploma or ITI certificates.
The Union also urged elected representatives to intervene in the matter.
The Union leaders will also soon meet the state home minister seeking his intervention for the benefit of the unemployed youth of the state.
