‘E-governance can bring efficiency in work process’

 SHILLONG: The introduction of e-governance which is also the other name of smart governance can bring about efficiency in the work process as well as maintaining proficiency, Director of Science and Technology Dr S Chaudhuri said.

“Smart in e-governance stands for a smart, moral, accountable, responsible technology which is designed for bringing about overall development”, Chaudhuri opined.

Chaudhuri was addressing a gathering at the 37th Anniversary of BK Bajoria Higher Secondary School cum inauguration of a smart class in this school from class KG II till class 12 at the school’s premises here on Saturday.

The director said that with modern technology, many changes have come to pass. Apart from e-governance, the introduction of smart class to make learning more interesting is also a great achievement.

“In the case of a smart class in a normal classroom, smart signifies—simply, modern, assessable, responsible technology”, he said.

While calling upon the teachers to make use of such technology to impart knowledge to the students, Chaudhuri asked them to refrain from fascinating words and fascinating abbreviation and ensure good delivery to the students.

Teachers have a big role to play in the life of the students in disbursing the best of education in an interesting manner, he said while stating that students needs to learn complicated things in the simplest manner.

While stressing on freedom as the main goal of mankind, the director said freedom does not only mean freedom from slavery or bondage but “It rather means freedom in the way we think”.

Others who were present on the occasion included the chairman of the school committee BP Bajoria, principal of the school Dr Shipra Basu, CAO M Dhar besides teachers and students of the school.
