SHILLONG: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) is keen to put up a candidate for the Lok Sabha elections but a decision will be made after the Council elections.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, PDF Cabinet minister, Hamlet Dohling said the party will concentrate on the Council polls scheduled for February 27.
Even as the UDP proposed to field a common candidate for the MDA alliance, Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) partner, Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) has proposed MLA from Mawkyrwat, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar as the common candidate.
On the other hand, UDP has proposed the name of former MLA Jemino Mawthoh.
Commenting on talks of unity of regional parties, Dohling said unity is important although the matter should be discussed thoroughly after the elections and not before the elections.
