NONGSTOIN: Two leaders of the Nongstoin Assembly Youth Congress (NAYC) along with their followers on Wednesday joined the NPP at a gathering in Upper New Nongstoin village.
Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress secretary Pynlangbor Syiem and NAYC working president and HSPDP secretary of Domkohsam Primary Unit Moskinglan Lyngdoh Nonglait joined the party with more than 20 followers.
They were welcomed by NPP candidate Apsharailang Syiem and other NPP leaders.
The two leaders and their followers said that they decided to join the NPP due to the inability of the Congress to bring about development in Nongstoin even after being in power for almost 36 years.
They also expressed their satisfaction at the initiative taken by the local MLA to rebuild Nongstoin as district headquarters.
Apsharailang Syiem expressed confidence that the entry of NAYC leaders into the party would strengthen it.
Syiem also sought the support of the people for the upcoming council polls.
“We are committed to serve the people of the state, therefore Nongstoin should also choose NPP and be part of the journey to development,” Syiem said.
