SHILLONG:  In the wake of three people suffering injuries and few shops damaged  in the city following the  victory rally  organised to celebrate the lapse of Citizenship Amendment  Bill (CAB), Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has asked the DGP to inquire into the matter.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, Conrad Sangma informed that the vehicles which were involved in assaulting the people had been identified by the police and a case had been registered

Stating that police have made a headway into the  incident, the Chief Minister also refused  to admit that the Government is going soft against anybody  even  as he added that the government cares for every  citizen of the state

He added that the Government had to handle things with care while facing such situations, he however added that the government did handle things with care but it should not mean that people will take law into their hands

“ Our care should not be seen as something that will be forgotten  and we will let anybody do anything. That will not be the case,” the Chief Minister said

Terming the assault on people and damaging of shops as something which is incorrect and unacceptable, he added that the Police is on the job to investigate into the matter.

It was on Wednesday evening when three people and few shops  were damaged in Rynjah and RR Colony during the victory rally taken out by KSU after the attempt of the BJP-led NDA government to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Rajya Sabha was thwarted.

The KSU has already denied the allegations while maintaining that some people are taking advantage of the situation
