SHILLONG:  As many as five MLAs of Meghalaya in including Phulbari MLA, SG Estamur Mominin have  asked the Chief  Minister, Conrad Sangma    for an independent inquiry into the recent incident  where two persons were lynched by an angry mob in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills (WGH) district and another was critically injured, police said Friday.

In a letter to the Chief Minister,  the five MLAs said that  the Chief Minister had assured that there would  be a judicial inquiry into the matter.

The MLAs  also said that  this was a serious crime and Government should  take the matter seriously  and nobody should take the  laws into their hand

The incident took place at Chanangpara village after the locals had been alerted about the suspicious movement of the trio in their car.

A strong  mob stopped the car and when they found weapons – a dagger and rods – inside the car trunk, the occupants of the car were fatally attacked leaving two of them dead and one seriously wounded.
