SHILLONG: The staff, management and students of Holy Child Higher Secondary School paid tribute to the CRPF jawans who were killed in a terror attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The programme was attended by M Kharkrang, assistant inspector general of police, who encouraged the audience to be grateful for the men and women who sacrifice their lives.
Kharkrang paid homage to the soldiers along with the principal of the school, Sr Delphine Fernandes, and two senior teachers.
The students lit candles as a sign of remembrance and honour for the soldiers who died in the terror attack.
State Mahila Cong
pays tribute
Meghalaya Mahila Pradesh Congress Committee held a candle light vigil at Khyndailad junction to express solidarity with the martyred CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Joining in the protest former legislator and General Secretary of MMPC, Deborah Marak said that they have come out to stand in solidarity and also to condemn the terror attack.
Candles were lit and prayers were offered as many mourned the death of the brave souls and felt for the bereaved families. Volunteers passed on the candles to whoever was interested to pay homage to the departed souls.

Mixed reactions emerged from the crowd gathered at the venue while few members of the Mahila Committee requested the central government to solve the stalemate amicably by adopting dialogues over violence. Others commented that the Centre should move up for surgical strike and deal the issue with an iron hand.
