SHILLONG: The KHNAM elected its new office bearers during its General Executive Committee (GEC) meeting held recently.

Besides electing Pyndapborthiaw Lyngdoh as its president, the party has also elected its MDC from Jaiaw as its general secretary.

The other office bearers include- Batkupar Wahlang – (Vice-President), Freewell Marpna & Bah Iengskhem Diengdoh(Assistant General Secretaries) and Mehio Roy Suting (Treasurer).

Besides other office bearers, the party also elected 12 other CEC Members from different districts of the State. The meeting also decided to strengthen the party in the entire Khasi & Jaiñtia Hills by forming more Units in different Constituencies to gear up for the 2013 Elections.

The meeting also deliberated on the issue of creation of three new districts in the State and hailed the Govt. decision in this regard. It was however not happy with the step-motherly attitude of the Govt. to West Khasi Hills, which is the most under- developed and backward District of the State.

The party felt that in order to do justice to the people living in West Khasi Hills, the Govt. should create 2 new districts by upgrading both Mairang and Mawkyrwat Civil Sub- Divisions respectively.

The KHNAM also decided to fully support the people’s party demanding creation of new districts in West Khasi Hills.
