Mawkyrwat: The HSPDP is now confident of winning the council election from Mawkyrwat Constituency in South West Khasi Hills after a large number of supporters turned up for a rally on Saturday.
Addressing the large gathering, HSPDP candidate Nilip Lyngdoh said: “When I look at all of you both old and new supporters, I see that a majority of you are leaders in primary units and therefore I am confident that we will win this election”.
“There are many allegations and accusations against me and the party, but I’m glad that you stand strong and support me in this election.”
“This will prove the claim that we are strong from every corner of the constituency,” Lyngdoh added.
Lyngdoh also said that the District Council is the shield of the ‘jaitbynriew’.
“If you look at our culture, land and Rikhasi (Khasi Hills) as a whole, you will find that the District Council is our protector,” Lyngdoh said adding that if elected he will codify the customary practices of the Khasis.
Lyngdoh said that besides the issues that he had put up in his personal appeal, he will follow up on the issues of the HSPDP as well.
Meanwhile, HSPDP MLA Renik L Tongkhar lauded the unity of the party in Mawkyrwat by saying: “Even though we have four leaders who wanted to contest the election through the HSPDP, all are here supporting Nolip and the party. Unity will lead us to victory.”
