SHILLONG: The construction of the Research Cancer Centre at NEIGRIHMS is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2019.
The public relations officer at NEIGRIHMS said the implementing agency is scheduled to complete the project by the end of 2019 if the weather remains conducive.
“Work is going on for the project,” the PRO said.
The research centre, once completed, will be a boon for the people of Meghalaya as well as the region that has recorded high number of cancer cases in the recent years.
Apart from the cancer research centre, the construction of a medical college building, nursing college building and students’ hostels at NEIGRIHMS which started in March 2017 is progressing steadily. The institute is coming up with many facilities for patients.
It was also informed that the administration of the institute is holding regular review meetings with the agencies which are undertaking the construction work of the research centre to ensure timely completion of the project.
