SHILLONG: The state government may soon create a community and rural development block in Rambrai area on the Meghalaya-Assam border in West Khasi Hills.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Wednesday the government has not decided on the location of the block.
Langpih, which witnesses frequent skirmishes between the residents on both sides of the border, falls under Rambrai constituency and if the C&RD block becomes a reality, it will come as a relief to the locals.
“The idea of a C&RD block is expected to bring people close to the administration. The government will be able to react at a faster pace to any eventuality in the border if a block is created in Rambrai,” said Tynsong.
The government is also planning to step up security and push for development in villages along the inter-state border by strengthening the existing police outposts at identified area of difference and improving road connectivity.
