GUWAHATI: The US Embassy is keen on engaging American companies in Numaligarh Refinery’s expansion plans.
“The US Embassy would be pleased to facilitate involvement of US companies in Numaligarh Refinery’s expansion plans,” US Ambassador to India, Kenneth I. Juster, said during an interaction with officials of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in New Delhi recently, informs an official statement here on Thursday.
NRL had hosted a high-level delegation from the US Embassy in the national capital led by Juster.
Discussions were held primarily on possible areas of collaboration and cooperation of NRL with American companies in the backdrop of the NRL’s upcoming mega expansion project to enhance its refining capacity from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA.
Refining companies in India have often adopted US-based technology and services, with America playing a major role in the world’s oil and gas industry.
NRL managing director, SK Barua thanked Ambassador Juster for taking the initiative and expressed hope that the deliberations would further open up avenues for NRL to collaborate with US companies as it embarks on its mega expansion drive.
NRL’s refinery in Numaligarh (Golaghat district) has two major units with technology adopted from USA, comprising a hydrocracker unit from Chevron and coke calcination unit from Svedala.
